About Us
High Stakes Foundation was established in 2007 by Dr. Mary Stranahan and is currently led by President Dawn McGee. Since its founding, High Stakes has awarded more than $13.2 million in grants to organizations across Montana.

Today, the stakes couldn't be higher. The world's leading scientists have made it clear: human activity is undeniably altering the planet - triggering rising seas, melting ice, and cascading effects across ecosystems. In Montana, particularly in rural areas, communities face mounting challenges: the erosion of living-wage jobs, limited access to fresh and affordable food, and deepening political, social, and economic divides.
We live in High Stakes times.

At High Stakes Foundation, we invest in solutions that foster resilient, interconnected communities - places where everyone has a stake in the long-term prosperity, health, and natural beauty of Montana.
