- We support organizations that are doing the “background” or “foundational” work on key public policy issues on the environment and sustainability issues. The complexity of the issues should be fully understood and be used to create a positive, practical policy framework.
- We support organizations that are enhancing biodiversity, food security, and reduced water and energy consumption.

- We support organizations that advance economic development to make
Montana communities more viable - We support organizations that promote a just, equitable, and sustainable society
- We support organizations that are creating a vibrant democracy - with an informed, involved citizenry
Sustainable People
- We support educational programs that build both individual and organizational capacity for leadership

HSF will not fund:
